Gujarat: Clashes between Bharwads leave one dead, three injured

A person died and three others sustained injuries after a clash erupted between groups of Bharwad community in Fedar village of Dhanduka on Wednesday. Two people were arrested on Thursday after a cross-complaint was lodged with the Dhanduka police.

A complaint was lodged by one Bhana Modiya, of Dhanduka, against three accused — Kinjibhai Bharwad, Kukabhai  Bharwad and Gokulbhai Bharwad — after the trio allegedly him and his relative with lathis around 8 am on Wednesday. 

The dispute broke out because one of the accused had allegedly harassed the Bhana’s daughter-in-law around five days ago. The victims had gone to deliver milk in the village. While Somdhabhai, Bhana’s cousin, who sustained head injuries, died on his way to the hospital. Bhana had a narrow escape, he said. 

A cross-complaint was lodged by Gokulbhai Bharwad against four accused — identified as Bhanabhai, Jeenabhai, Somdhabhai and Chetan — for attacking him and his sons, Kinjibhai and Kukabhai. Gokulbhai was also hurt in the attack.
