Gujarat BJP tries to keep social equilibrium

Gujarat BJP leaders have shown their policy to maintain social equilibrium in making appointments of the leaders in urban bodies by balancing caste and regional equations. The names of the mayor, deputy mayor, standing committee chairman, leader of ruling party and whip of the party in three municipal corporations in the state were announced on Thursday. The bodies including Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Surat got the new leaders who will rule for next two and half years term.

The names for Rajkot and Vadodara municipal corporation is yet to be announced and it is likely that the formality will be done on Friday. The party chose Patel community councilor to be appointed as the mayor which was reserved for general category woman and Bijal Patel has become the first person of the city. While the post of standing committee chairman has been given to Amul Bhatt who is having a close connection with RSS and CM Vijay Rupani himself. The party chose to give chance to general category communities including Patel and Brahmin here while the schedule caste leader Dinesh Makwana has been made the deputy mayor. The city chief of party organization, MLA Jagdish Panchal is from OBC community.

There was a tug of war between leaders of Saurashtra origin and Surti origin in Surat municipal corporation. The party managed the circumstances by appointing Dr. Jagdish Patel from Saurashtra region while Anil Goplani from Surti roots has been appointed as standing committee chairman.
