The cabinet expansion by CM Vijay Rupani has not gone well with his party's MLAs. Those disappointed with the expansion include Gariadhar MLA Keshu Nakrani, Sanand MLA Kanu Koli Patel, Porbandar MLA Babu Bokhiria, Daskroi MLA Babu Jamnadas Patel, Visnagar MLA Rushikesh Patel and some more.

The Congress MLAs defecting to BJP getting berth in CM's cabinet have added fuel to their fury, followed by Jawahar Chavda getting berth in the cabinet ministry. Kunvarji Bavaliya is also the same kind of beneficiary who in July last year was made minister within hours of quitting Congress.

MLA who is disappointed with this scenario said, "I am questioning myself on being a BJP MLA. If not, I would have beem a minister today. These kind of incidents demoralise us." Two out of three MLAs made minister on Saturday, are Congress turncoats including Jawahar Chavda and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja.

A very senior leader of BJP said, "This is an exercise that party is following to get the mandate from different communities. The party will have to do fine social engineering at micro level after less than 100 MLAs were elected in last assembly polls. This kind of incident definitely demoralises those who have been with party for long term. But our leaders understand they also do no have other option as they cannot join Congress."

Amidst this, Nitin Patel said that there was still a scope to include more people in cabinet and the CM will take a call on this. Patel, however, turned down the possibility of appointments of MLAs as parliamentary secretaries.

BJP's Godhra MLA CK Raulji who also had quit Congress last year, rushed to meet the Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani in morning with the demand to include him in cabinet. But as per the reports he would be given Lok Sabha ticket from Panchmahal, replacing sitting MP Prabhatsinh Chauhan. Sanand MLA Kanu Koli Patel also had reached Gandhinagar in afternoon to meet the CM, but he turned empty handed.

The opposition party's state unit chief Amit Chavda on Saturday said that BJP does not trust its own leaders and so was poaching those from the Congress. "The BJP is staring at defeat in the Lok Sabha polls. It does not trust on its own workers and lacks leadership. This is the reason why the BJP is getting Congress leaders to join them," said Chavda.
