Gujarat BJP gives Ambedkar Jayanti a religious touch with aarti in temples

The saffron party BJP in Gujarat has decided to celebrate 127th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar with religious touch, the party will perform puja and aarti of deities in temple to pay homage to architect of Indian constitution. All the leaders of BJP including party chief in Gujarat and different ministers will remain present in religious rituals at famous temples across the state and at each and every districts. Scheduled caste leaders and workers will be kept together during this programme.

The spokesperson of party Bharat Pandya said, "This is the gesture by our party of social equality by bringing schedule caste community together in this special programme. All our party leaders including president Jitu Vaghani will attend Puja and Arti at different temples. Our leadres will also attend Samajik Samrasta Sammelan in which our cadres and people from scheduled caste communities will be invited and all will take dinner together."

The party leaders will also pay homage to Dr Ambedkar at different places in the morning near the statue of the leader. Meanwhile, Dalit leader and independent MLA from Vadgam Jignesh Mevani's showdown with the BJP leaders' programme can create tension in state. Mevani has asked the Dalit community members to not to let BJP leaders go near Ambedkar's statue anywhere in Gujarat and if they tried, the attempt should be made futile.

On Firday, He said, "I appeal to all that we should oppose BJP leaders'programme paying homage to Babasaheb. Our protest should be non-violent but effective.", Mevani's close confident, however, said that it could not be predicted that there would not be any friction as situation cannot be forecaste. The BJP, however, is firm and would hold the programmes everywhere. Pandya added, "We, as party have been organisining programme to pay homage to Dr Ambedkar for many years and we will follow this tradition as usual."

Senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, "Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi are not the leaders who can be associated with any particular community."

Here, Jignesh Mevani reached Kutch on the eve of Ambedkar anniversary. He had announced to block the roads of Kutch region at Samakhiyali entry point, if his demands of allotment of land to Dalit families in regions were not met.

Close aid to Mevani said, "If Kutch collector has issued order of land allotment to families of five villages and gives assurance for rest of villages, Mevani will celebrate his victory there. Otherwise, he and our workers will block roads leading to Kutch region."

The home department of state government held meeting on Friday to discuss the issue of law and order situation taking the possible friction between BJP workers and supporters of Jignesh Mevani.
