The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main opposition Congress will on Monday release their respective election manifestos for the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat.

According to reports, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and other senior leaders will release the BJP's manifesto in Ahmedabad. In the manifesto, BJP is likely to focus on affordable housing for urban areas and irrigation facilities for agriculture in rural areas.

The much awaited manifesto of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be released on Monday by the party’s state president RC Faldu in the presence of chief minister Narendra Modi. The party’s manifesto is likely to be ‘dream’ one with the party working for last sixth month to formulate it.

According to sources, party will focus on providing benefits to government employees, making provisions for houses at lower rates for the middle class and lower middle class as well as attractive schemes for youths.

The party had received as many as 1,200 suggestions for the manifesto. The saffron party is chalking out a manifesto that can curb the Congress’s promises to give Ghar nu Ghar and plots for poor and laptops to students. The party is also likely to declare a bonanza for the government employees in the form of just five working days a week.

In addition, BJP may abolish government recruitment on fix wages and increase the age limit for the government jobs up to 30 years instead of existing 28.

According to sources, party has conducted micro survey about expectations and previous works by the government. And after scrutinizing all aspects, it has prepared its manifesto. Modi himself has taken care of the final plan after changing it a couple of times.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader LK Advani termed Modi as a "role model" of development. "Modi is undertaking great development work in Gujarat. He is a role model for chief ministers of other states on how to rule, govern and take care of even the poorest," Advani said while addressing election rallies at Kalol and Mansa in Gandhinagar district.

Modi, who is looking at a third consecutive term at the helm in Gujarat, is contesting from Ahmedabad's Maninagar, a seat he has held since 2002. In 2007, he defeated the Congress candidate by around 75,000 votes from Maninagar, where the Congress has fielded Suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt's wife Shweta Bhatt against him this time.

Gujarat will go to the polls in two phases on December 13 and 17. The counting of votes will take place on December 20.
