The Congress MLA’s comment on Hindutva and Hindustan heat up the atmosphere in Gujarat assembly on Monday. Senior MLA from Congress Gyasuddin Shaikh alleged that the deputy CM Nitin Patel said in House to unite Hindus with the cooperation of Dalits, but there was a need to unite Hindustan. The comment made by Shaikh provoked BJP MLAs to counter that resulted in the ruckus of some minutes in the house during the debate on the budget.

Shaikh was speaking on his cut motion on budget for the social justice and empowerment department. He said, “This government never showed concern for minorities. We were happy till last year that a word ‘minority’ was mentioned in budget sp-eech, alothough the budget decreased for community year by year. Your deputy CM Nitin Patel had said in house that the BJP wanted to keep Hindus united with the support from Dalits, but I would say that there is a need to keep Hindustan united.”

When Gyasuddin Shaikh was speaking, Patel was not present in the house. However, he kept on making fiery comments against BJP government in state and deputy CM Patel, but the speaker expunged his remaks from the record of an assembly. Meanwhile, senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama raised point of order and made counter allegations.

Chudasama said, “Shaikh is making irrelavant statements during the budget speech. In fact, BJP has succeeded to keep the nation united and very rare incidents of riots were reported during BJP rule in state and see the track record of Congress rules, riots were often.”
