Gujarat: 14 IPS officers promoted, four as ADGP, six as IGP

After much delay, the state government on Thursday finally cleared promotions of 14 IPS officers, including four officers who have been given the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), and four others who have been promoted to Inspector General of Police (IGP) rank.

The state home department issued a notification today promoting GS Malik, currently posted as Surat Range IG, Hasmukh Patel, additional director of ACB Ahmedabad, Neerja Gotru Rao, posted as joint commissioner of police (traffic) in Ahmedabad city, and JK Bhatt, who is joint commissioner of police (crime) in Ahmedabad city, to ADGP Grade. The posts held by the four officers were also upgraded accordingly.

Four other officers were promoted from DIGP grade to IGP grade. They include Nipuna Torawane, posted as additional director (training) & DIGP at State Police Academy at Karai, MAMH Anarwala, posted as principal at the Police Training College in Junagadh, and DB Vaghela, currently posted as additional commissioner of police in Surat city. Officials said that V Chandrasekhar, who is presently on central deputation, was also promoted to IGP Grade.

In another notification, the state government granted Selection Grade to six officers of 2005 batch of IPS. They include Kheda SP Maninder Partap Singh, ATS SP Himanshu Shukla, Dahod SP Prem Vir Singh, Kutch (West) SP MS Bharada, Lajpore Jail superintendent HR Chaudhary, and Raghavendra Vatsa, who is presently on central deputation. These six officers have been granted Selection Grade with effect from January 1, 2018, the notification said further.
