Caught on a wrong foot with the escape of Sadhvi Jayshree Giri, it seems the state police are leaving no stone unturned in tracing her.

On Friday, seven teams of police were sent to various states including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and others to track the 55-year-old Sadhvi of Mukteshwar Math of Vadgam in Banaskantha district.

She had jumped parole and fled by giving a slip to four cops who were accompanying her on Tuesday.

Police are also looking for her at ashrams in Gujarat and other states. It is also likely that she might hide herself in a ‘burkha’, sources said adding that she had married a Muslim but divorced later.

Ten years back, she was arrested in connection with a murder case. At that time too, she had escaped with similar modus operandi and eluded police arrest for nearly two years.  This time, Sadhvi accompanied by four policemen and two lawyers had come from Banaskantha to Ahmedabad to seek an extension of her bail, which was not granted to her. Her parole on medical ground expired on Wednesday.

ASHRAMS on RADAR

Police have recovered CCTV footage of all entry and exit points of the city to trace her. Among other ashrams, cops are also keeping a watch on the ashram of Jayshree Giri’s guru, ‘Pilot Baba’, who had earlier served Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot.

A top senior police officer on the condition of anonymity said if local police had sent senior and experienced officers to bring Sadhvi from Banaskantha to Ahmedabad for extension of her parole, such an incident would not have occurred.
