From a booth level worker, Parmar has risen to an MLA from BJP. Before Parmar, a former bureaucrat, who was fielded by the BJP, had won the election in 2012.

Parmar represents Asarwa, which a reserved scheduled caste seat in Ahmedabad. A member of the BJP for past three decades, Parmar said it was an honour for him that a booth level worker like him was selected to contest the assembly election. He believes his victory is mainly because of his connect with people.

“Local people know me as I have worked for them and raised their questions and issues. There are many things that have orked for my victory. I will continue to serve people with focus as I now have a larger area to look after,” said Pradip Parmar.

His list of priorities include beautification of gardens in the constituency. “I also want to introduce modern amenities in my area, there are some light pole which needs to be replaced with LED light.”

Having Asia’s largest hospital in his constituency, the first-time legislator wants to build amenities for visitors to the area. “I want to open more libraries and reading rooms in my area for the locals as well as those who visit the area for different purposes.”
