Gandhinagar Cops seek public help to arrest serial killer

The police are suspecting that the killer can be having psychological issues or be a drug addict, apart from that they are investigating looking at all aspects in the case.

The Special investigation team (SIT) formed by the Superintendent of Police, Gandhinagar, Mayur Chavda is scrambling for leads to crack the serial killer case. According to a senior police officer, basic information like motive behind the murder is not yet clear.

The police are suspecting that the killer can be having psychological issues or be a drug addict, apart from that they are investigating looking at all aspects in the case.

All the three murders took place between 8.30am and 10.30am in Adalaj and Infocity areas. Police said the killer must be getting into his act early in the morning, randomly looking for targets and attacking from behind.

No CCTV footage, witness or not any other clues have were recovered in the case until now and cops are clueless about how to crack the case.

After the officers were not going anywhere in the case investigation, they sought help from the public in solving the case. Mayur Chavda, Superintendent of Police, Gandhinagar, said, "We've circulated a helpline number regarding the matter and sought help from the public if they know anything about the killer. People can also alert the police calling on the number if they found any suspicious movement or person in their respected areas."

Three murder cases

The three murders took place between October 14, and January 26 wherein two cases were lodged with Adalaj police, and the other was lodged with Infocity police. The killer used the same modus operandi and shot the victim from behind.

According to police, on the October 14, Jayram Rabari, 62, a cattle-rearer was shot dead near Adalaj Narmada canal.

The second murder took place on December 9 near the Koba circle, where Keshvalal Patel, 70, who ran a construction material business, was gunned down, but nothing was looted from him.

The third murder took place on January 26.
