Future technologies to be showcased in Vibrant Gujarat Summit exhibition

Gujarat government is hoping to give a fillip to the technological innovation in the state and the country through a special exhibition on science and technology that will be held along with Vibrant Gujarat Summit this time.

The exhibition will showcase the future technologies at Science City in Ahmedabad from January 17 to 20.

The secretary in the department of science and technology, Dhananjay Dwivedi said, "Around 18 international IT companies like Microsoft, IBM and others are going to present their futuristic technologies here in the exhibition. Moreover, there are 37 Indian technology companies and start-ups which will get this platform to showcase their innovation to the global community through this exhibition."

The futuristic technology models like Hololens and Pixelsense from Microsoft, IBM Watson from IBM, Smart factory concept of Panasonic, Li-Fi by Phillips and other will be kept here. Moreover, Beyond the Planet Earth- The future of the space exploration titles exhibition taken on loan from NASA also will be available here to see.

"This exhibition will be spread over 9,000 sq feet area and that will be based on the theme of 'Shaping new India'. We want to create interest among youth for the new technologies and especially futuristic technologies. This exhibition will give them exposure to the same," Dwivedi added.

The secretary also informed that investments of Rs 5,600 crore came to Gujarat under more than 250 MOUs signed in VGS, after the government announced Information Technology Policy in 2016 and Bio-Technology(BT) policy in 2017.

"As many as 180 MOUs were signed in the field of IT during last VGS and 124 were approved by us and that fetched Rs. 4,500 crore investments creating 3,200 jobs. Whereas out of 70 MOUs signed in BT sector, 34 were sanctioned that brought investments of Rs. 1,100 crore in Gujarat," Dwivedi further added.
