Five workers were injured after a violence broke out on Monday afternoon in Waghodia area of rural Vadodara following an attack by a mob of nearly 30 factory workers. According to the police, the mob forced itself inside the factory and began attacking the migrants with stone and lathi. The injured were later rushed to the hospital.
The incident took place at the Param Engineers Factory located in Waghodia. According to the complaint, a group of 30 people gathered outside the factory gate and started protesting in order to kick out the migrants among the factory workers, who were working at the time.
The protest turned violent after the mob barged into the factory and started attacking the migrant workers. As soon as the incident took place, some migrants managed to flee from the spot, but five were captured by the mob and were thrashed.
The police reached the spot immediately and were able to nab 19 accused, among whom four were juveniles. Tarun Duggal, Superintendent of Police of Rural Vadodara, said, "This is the first incident which has happened in the district where the migrants were attacked. We have increased the security in the sensitive areas and have deployed force near GIDC area and residential area of the migrant. In the incident, we have been able to nab 19 accused, in which 4 are juveniles, while the search for the rest is going on."
One more associate of MLA Aplesh Thakor nabbed by Cyber cell of crime branch
On Tuesday, around ten more accused were nabbed by the Ahmedabad City cell of crime branch in relation with spreading violence and provoking anti-migrants sentiment social media. Investigation revealed that one of the accused, identified as Rahul Thakor, social media convenor of Thakor Sena of Palanpur, was also involved in the crime.
After the arrest of Mahesh Thakor, president of Thakor Sena of Dhoka, and Ganpat Thakor, secretary of Thakor Sena of Gandhinagar, this is the third member of the Sena arrested for spreading rumours and abusive messages against migrants.
Till now, the crime branch has nabbed a total of 29 accused in the matter while 144 names of accused have been revealed.
