On the sixth day of the mega traffic drive conducted by the Ahmedabad Police Department and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), areas located near the outer ring road of the city were cleared of encroachments.

The drive was conducted in areas like Ramol, Naroda, Nana Chiloda, Odhav, Danilimda, Kagdapith, etc, located near the highways and outer ring roads of the city. Today's drive was carried out in zone 4, 5, and 6, which comprised a 30-km stretch.

Around 350 police officers were deployed and were being supervised by Ashok Kumar Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector 2. There were three DCPs, three ACPs, 18 police inspectors, and other officers.

During the drive, 217 notices were issued to defaulters. Thirty-seven vehicles were towed away, and a total of Rs 58,000 was collected in fine from offenders. Apart from that, residents of nearby areas were apprised of traffic and parking rules to raise awareness.

Ashok Kumar Yadav told DNA: "In today's drive, everything went smooth. There wasn't a single issue that cropped up during work on the entire 30-km stretch.

We had concentrated on the outer ring roads and highway areas of the city on Thursday as these are places from where vehicles enter the city. It was necessary to ensure that these routes have smooth traffic, so that the internal parts have less congestion.

We are also planning to conduct another 15-km drive on Friday, where we will be concentrating on luxurious vehicles, so that people know the rules apply to everyone."
