A 21-year-old married dalit woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two persons on Tuesday evening at an abandoned railway quarter in Rajkot. Two persons have been arrested in this connection, police said.

According to police, Gulam Mohammed Katariya alias Guliya, who recently came out of jail, and Sultan alias Latif, were arrested late on Wednesday evening for raping the dalit woman.

“We have arrested two persons and soon the other two, Imtiaz alias Bado and Kishore Koli, will also be arrested,” commissioner of police, Rajkot, HP Singh, said.

The woman, in her complaint, stated that she was abducted by Guliya and three others while she was returning home with his brother-in-law (husband’s younger brother).

“They attacked my brother-in-law with a knife and forcibly took me to an abandoned railway quarters behind the fast track court building on a motorcycle. There Guliya and one of his friends raped me,” the woman said in her statement before the police.

Guliya was arrested and sent to jail under PASA (Prevention of Anti-Social Act). A few weeks ago he was released from jail.

Incidentally, before abducting and raping the woman, the four were on a rampage near Morbi Road of the city. In an inebriated state they ransacked a mini-truck by breaking its wind screen and also attacked one person who tried to stop them. The incident took place around 5 on Tuesday evening.
