The Gujarat government on Saturday has asked the Cyber Crime Cell to investigate the case of rumours related to CM Rupani's resignation on social media. The minister of state for home, Pradipsinh Jadeja made this announcement on Saturday. However, he did not reveal that who the government has doubt on.

Rumours of CM Vijay Rupani's resignation sought by the BJP high command and new face taking over as the chief minister of Gujarat had gone viral during initial days of this week.

The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Hardik Patel give the push to this issue by making the statement that Rupani already resigned after his cabinet forced him to do so and new CM would be appointed in ten days.

Jadeja, talking to media persons in Gandhinagar said, "The government has handed over the probe to cyber crime cell to investigate the issue of rumours. Our team will find out the persons who spread the rumor by social media or any other means. Some people have been deliberately trying to destabilise this government and they are hatching conspiracy for that. We will expose those rumour mongers and conspirators through this probe and initiate strict actions against them."

A senior BJP leader said on condition of anonymity, "This could be an act of the dissident leaders in our party also. There are many in our party who have great political ambitions but could not achieve it because of their own poor performance. Now, they have been trying to create disturbance in the party. Simultaneously Congress leaders in Gujarat and Hardik Patel have been giving impetus to such nasty issues."
