The Gujarat Congress staged ‘Pol Khol Dharna’ at Income Tax Circle on Tuesday to remind chief minister Narendra Modi of the promises that he had made during Sadbhavna campaign about two years ago.

The party will stage dharna at all 33 places in the state where Modi had observed fast and will remind people of the packages announced for their area. They mocked at Modi calling him a liar and suggested that September 17, should be celebrated as ‘International Feku Day’.

The Congress leaders lambasted the chief minister for announcing different packages but not making any provision for them in the budget.

They also said that letters from retired justice RA Mehta and suspended DIG DG Vanzara tell the truth about the Modi government.

“Mehta denied taking Lokayukta position, indicating how the government spent Rs54 crore to stop him from accepting the post, while Vanzara’s letter shows how Modi has come to power by politics of death,” said Shankarsinh Vaghela leader of opposition in Gujarat Assembly.

The Congress leaders also took potshot at Modi for having multiple career wishes, which he failed to pursue.

At a teachers’ rally, Modi said that he wanted to be a teacher, while addressing soldiers he wished to be one of them and recently, the chief minister said that he wanted to be a sadhu, said senior Congress leader Siddharth Patel

“At Rewadi in Haryana, the chief minister said that due to lack of money he could not take admission in Sainik School at Balachhadi near Jamnagar. However, the school was inaugurated in 1964 and admissions were free of cost. But the chief minister had gone past the admission age in 1961 only,” said Arjun Modhwadia, president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
