Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Bharatsinh Solanki and AICC general secretary and party’s Gujarat in-charge Ashok Gehlot held a meeting with city corporators on Tuesday ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state.

Some of the corporators skipped the meeting which angered Solanki, after which he made it compulsory for all corporators to attend the upcoming meetings. Senior Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela was also present at the meeting.

The leaders asked the corporators to assure that Congress wins at least nine out 16 seats of Ahmedabad Assembly in upcoming state elections.

Solanki also informed that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address three rallies in Rajkot, Bhuj and Vadodara in August. Solanki and Gehlot will kick-off a three day visit to North Gujarat on Wednesday.

The elections are scheduled to be held in month of November.

Meanwhile, Congress is planning to organise protests across the state on July 10 against the National Land Records Modernisation Programme (NLRMP), under which 1.25 crore plots were surveyed.

Congress alleged that survey is full of discrepancies. The mapping was initiated by state government under the NLRMP in 2009.

Congress wants the government to cancel this mapping system and take into consideration previous land records to save lakhs of people from knocking the doors of court for justice.
