Sheth CN Vidyavihar concluded its year-long centenary celebrations on Friday at the CN Vidyavihar Prathana Mandir with the launch of a special cover by the Gujarat Postal Department.

The special cover was released by postmaster general, Vadodara region, BB Dave.

‘Chatralaya Shatabdi Ank’, a collection of articles by CN Chhatralaya alumni, was also launched by Sumati Patwa, alumnus of Kumar Chatralaya. “The souvenir contains memories of those who stayed in the hostel and dedicated their lives for the betterment of the society,” Director of Sheth CN Vidyavihar, TJ Purani said.

Gujarat high court judge Aquil Qureshi, and alumnus of Vidyabihar, was the guest of honour at the event. The first institution – the Kumar Chhatralaya- was established in 1912 on this day. It was formed to provide holistic school education, which would foster and preserve Indian ethos.

With India’s freedom struggle having its roots in Ahmedabad, CN educational policy was strongly inspired by Gandhian values and principles. An exclusive website of Sheth CN Vidyavihar was also launched and it would start functioning in a month’s time. As part of the centenary year (1912-2012), several events — comprising workshops, seminar and lectures — were organised throughout the year.

Eminent local and global speakers like international astrophysicist and scientist Jayant Narlikar, Linda Nathan from Boston Arts School of America and John Shackelton from British Council to name a few participated in the various events held as part of the celebrations.
