CM Vijay Rupani's birthday a low-key affair, wishes showered

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani turned 62 years old on Thursday. Born on August 2, 1956, in Yangon of Myanmar, Vijay Rupani kept his birthday a low-key affair. However, he received wishes from leaders including President Ramnath Kovind, PM Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. The hashtag #HBDVijayRupani was trending on Twitter at fourth position at an all India level.

Rupani started his day with the crime conference in Gandhinagar held to review the law and order situation in the state. The home department arranged a cake for him and he cut it. The deputy CM Nitin Patel greeted him with a birthday card while the minister of state for home gifted him a coconut (an auspicious fruit as per Indian traditions) and a shawl.

Through the day, lots of wishes were showered upon the CM through social media and many leaders called him up to wish him on his birthday. The president, Ramnath Kovind, wished him on the phone, while the PM wished him on Twitter. The PM tweeted: "Birthday wishes to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani Ji. Under his leadership, Gujarat continues to scale new heights of progress. I pray that he is blessed with a long and healthy life. @vijayrupanibjp"

BJP chief Amit Shah also wished him on twitter, writing: "Extend my warm wishes to Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri@vijayrupanibjp ji on his birthday. Vijaybhai has continued the pace of Vikas Yatra in Gujarat and is serving the people of state with dedication and commitment. May God bless him with a long and healthy life."

Other veteran BJP leaders such as LK Advani, union ministers such as Arun Jaitley, Nirmala Sitharaman, Suresh Prabhu, Piyush Goyal, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ram Vilas Pasvan, Jayan Sinha, Rayavardhan Rathore and Mansukh Mandaviya wished him too. CMs of other states, such as Yogi Adityanath, Manohar Lal Khattar, Sarbananda Sonoval, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, Devendra Fadnavis, Dr Raman Singh, Dr Dinesh Sharma, Keshav Prasad Maurya, Raghubar Das and Pema Khandu also wished him through Twitter.
