On Wednesday, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani dedicated developmental works worth Rs 800 crore to the public in Ahmedabad. CM Rupani performed the ground-breaking ceremony for an upcoming foot overbridge over Sabarmati River. This will be a one-of-a-kind bridge in city.

"After Patan Hotel, Ahmedabad will get yet another new identity," said Rupani, while performing the ground-breaking ceremony. Rs 75 crore has been invested for the bridge.

On Wednesday, Rupani also issued appointment letters to 6,000 sanitation workers. "They are the people who are keeping the city neat and clean. These people will get all the benefits from the government. Now, along with the jobs, they will get shelter," said Rupani.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a dream to provide shelter to all by 2022. We are working towards achieving the target and to improve living standards of citizens," remarked Rupani.

A total of 2,805 houses constructed under the Pradhanmantri Awas Yojna at a cost of Rs196 crore, located at new west, central and east zones, were handed over to the beneficiaries. Along with that, through a lucky draw, 2,849 housing units were allotted to the beneficiaries at the new west and south zone.

The authorities have assured that is any applicant has been left out in the draw, they will get a house in the coming three months, as another 2,500 housing units will be distributed.
