Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani arrived at waterlogged areas of Ahmedabad city on Thursday afternoon to review the situation. Making his way through these inundated water on a boat, Rupani approached affected people in low-lying areas and assured them of quick relief measures.

Rupani, along with local MLA and minister of state for transport Vallabh Kakadia, visited Madhumalti Avas Society in Nikol and Chandrabhaga Colony in Vadaj where three to four feet of waterlogging had been reported. The CM met with affected people in these areas and assured them that they will be shifted to safer places and would be compensated for losses. Rupani then visited the flood control room at Paldi and gave relief and rescue instructions to the civic administration.

Rupani said, “Ahmedabad has received 147% rain this year as compared to last year. Keeping the weather forecast in mind, two columns of the Army have been kept in a standby mode, while three NDRF teams will be stationed here for rescue efforts. I depute urban development secretary Mukesh Puri to provide additional support to the civic authorities.”
