CBSE Class 10 results 2018: Girls outperform boys by 4% in Ajmer

A total of 15,128 students scored more than 90 per cent and 2611 students scored more than 95 per cent in the region

Ajmer region, which includes Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, ranked third in region-wise pass percentage at 91.86 per cent in the Class 10 examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

As across the nation, girls outperformed boys in Ajmer region too. A total of 94.62 per cent of girls passed the exams as against 90.07 per cent of the boys. A total of 15,128 students scored more than 90 per cent and 2611 students scored more than 95 per cent in the region.

"As the boards were reintroduced this year, students challenged themselves and worked very hard to face the new situation. It has been a good result over all," said Surender Sachdeva, chairman of Sahodaya Schools Complex of Ahmedabad.

Utkarsh Jindal was crowned Ahmedabad's topper with a score of 98.4 per cent. Suvarna Saraswat, also from Delhi Public School, came close at his heels with 98 per cent. Rushita Shah stood third with 97.4 per cent.

At St Kabir school, of the 251 students who appeared for the exam, 124 scored 90 per cent and above. In Udgam School for Children, of the 321 students that appeared, 91 students scored above 90 per cent.

The overall passing percentage for the exam dropped by 4.25 per cent, eight years after the examination was made compulsory. Four students, who secured 499 out of 500, were declared All India toppers by the board on Tuesday. A total of 16,24,682 students from 17,567 schools appeared in the exams held across the country.
