Heavy vehicles plying on Sardar Patel Ring Road have been a cause of concern for residents of Bopal as well as the administration, especially because of the danger of accidents that they pose. However, this is set to change, thanks to plans by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) to construct a flyover at Bopal junction on the ring road. The proposal is part of Rs348.89 crore budget for financial year 2014-15. The budget was passed at the board meeting on Wednesday. Auda has also allocated Rs100 crore for housing projects.

The development authority has planned construction of flyovers at different junctions like Bopal, Odhav, Sanathal, Bhadaj, Naroda and Ognaj.

Of these flyovers, the development authority has decided to prioritise work on flyovers at Bopal and Odhav junctions. However, the work of these flyovers is not likely to start till the end of monsoon, said sources in Auda.
