A used liquor bottle and a carton found in a dustbin in an MLAs quarters in Gandhinagar on Tuesday raised many eyebrows. A video of the same has gone viral on social media.

It must be noted that this comes despite the noose around the liquor prohibition policy was tightened by the Assembly in March this year.

NGO Jan Adhikar Manch immediately addressed a press conference on the issue to condemn the incident. The coordinator for the NGO, Pravin Ram said, "Did the MLAs celebrate their salary hike with the booze party? The opposition MLAs also were shouting against inflation, but do not they face the issue while purchasing liquor bottle? The question is how the bottle reached to MLA quarter and it is the shameful incident," Ram said.

A liquor bottle and a carton were found abandoned in the dustbin on the second floor of block number 2 of MLA quarters located in sector-21 of Gandhinagar. BJP MLAs from Dehgam Balrajsinh Chauhan and from Godhra CK Raulji, and Congress MLA from Viramgam Lakha Bharvad have their quarters on this floor. One quarter is used to store furniture and other miscellaneous items.

Dehgam MLA, Balrajsinh Chauhan said, "I am not aware of this. I hardly visit my quarter and last I was there fifteen days back for some moments and had returned. My quarter remains locked when I am not there. I knew about the incident when you told me."

The police inspector of the sector-21 police station, PL Vaghela said, "We have not received any complaint on this incident and we have no records of such incident."
