After the sessions court granted seven days' remand for former MLA Nalin Kotadiya, CID officials have been trying to extract information about the locations where he hid out during the five months on the run. As per CID officials, they are going to take action against each and every one who helped Kotadiya and gave him shelter while he was on the run.

In the course of interrogation, it was revealed that while Kotadiya was on the run, he had been helped by some close associates from Amreli, who had links in Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra. However, the exact locations where he was hiding is yet to be revealed.

As per officials, for two months of the five, Kotadiya was hiding at the Amalner railway quarters in Maharashtra which was under construction, with the help of an Amreli-based builder. He even stayed at his Amreli-based driver's in-laws' house in Gadchiroli for 25 days. Where he was for the remaining two months though, is yet to be discovered.

It was also revealed that Kotadiya had not been using a mobile phone while on the run and instead, contacted his helpers by using other people's numbers. While he was staying at the under-construction railway quarters, there were even people assigned to make him food and provide other essential stuff.

As per officials, Kotadiya has not been cooperating with them during interrogation. And with regard to not responding to the summons issued by the CID, he cited health problems such as blood pressure and diabetes.

On Sunday afternoon, a team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested former MLA Nalin Kotadiya from Maharashtra. Kotadiya is one of the main accused in the Rs 12-crore bitcoin extortion and kidnapping case of Sailesh Bhatt, a Surat-based builder.

Bhatt alleged that police personnel from Amreli had kidnapped him and his business partner Kirit Paladiya from Gandhinagar on February 9 this year and extorted bitcoins.

Bhatt had alleged that Kotadiya was a part of the entire conspiracy. The CID, who are investigating the case, had filed an FIR against Kotadiya for kidnapping and extortion. Kotadiya was issued summons twice by CID crime but he skipped on both occasions. On May 14, a report on the arrest warrant of Kotadiya was submitted to the court by CID officials and on May 17, the sessions court issued a non-bailable warrant against him. On June 18, the court declared the ex-MLA as a proclaimed offender and directed him to appear before it within 30 days.
