The CID crime on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against Kirit Paladiya in the sessions courts. The over 2400 pages chargesheet mentions 223 witnesses.

Earlier in May, the agency had recovered 119 bitcoins worth Rs 7.2 crore from Paladiya's Binance wallet. He is believed to be the mastermind behind the extortion of bitcoins from Shailesh Bhatt, the Surat-based builder.

During investigations, cops managed to recover just 119 bitcoins against the 142 that he had extorted. Paladiya had three separate cryptocurrency wallets in all of which the 119 bitcoins were found in just one wallet- Binance. He had converted accumulated bitcoins into 60 different cryptocurrencies.

Cops suspect that of the 176 bitcoins extorted from Bhatt's bitcoin wallet, Amreli SP Jagdish Patel, Inspector of LCB Anant Patel, other policemen, lawyer Ketan Patel, Ketan's brother Jatin Patel and Nalin Kotadiya were to get a share each

Paladiya was the former business partner of Bhatt and the alleged middleman of the cops involved in the whole kidnapping and extortion drama. It is believed that it was Paladiya who trapped Bhatt into travelling with him to Gandhinagar where he was kidnapped by the cops. He is the nephew of of former Dhari MLA Nalin Kotadiya. Kotadiya still remains absconding in the case.
