India is known for its diverse culture and with its culture comes some believes which have been existing for years. DNA has listed some of the beliefs that are associated with the places of worship in the city
Near to Nehrubridge, Dargah of Sovojuddin where people come to fix problem of stammering. If someone has some issue in speaking, especially in kids. There is a belief that if the problematic person/kid licks sugar which has been thrown on the floor, he will overcome the problem.
According to many parents this is a remedy and it actually works. Every Tuesday and Friday there is huge crowd at this place. The sugar is been offered by the Dargah only. Many of the parents say that praying at this place has actually worked and irrespective of religion, people visit this place seeking solution of their problem.
There is another place at Usmanpura – a dargah and Tomb of Pir Saiyad Usman where people get rid from trouble. A kind of exorcism has been practiced here to get rid from evil spirits that possesses a normal human being. Like the Sovojuddin dargah this also sees huge crowd on Tuesday and Thursday. There is no specific offering here to the dargah apart from prayers.
Another such place is a crematorium where there is a dargah located at Shahibaugh. Musa Suhag Ni Dargah, is a place of a muse who shed his masculine identity and lived with a female attire wearing bangles, ornaments etc.
This place has a believe that if someone is not getting suitable match for marriage and offers bangles here, a marriage will be fixed in some time. Following this believe, many girls coming here and offering bangles. Trees here in the premises are full of bangles, which is a proof of this. Of late, people have started offering bangles after their wish come true for anything.
