Anti-graft raids to continue, says Pradipsinh Jadeja

The government will also depute more personnel and upgrade technology to hunt down wrong doers.

The state government will continue with anti-corruption raids in the days to come to unearth cases of corruption by state government officials, state home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja said on Saturday. The government will also depute more personnel and upgrade technology to hunt down wrong doers.

Addressing media persons in Ahmedabad about the recent action by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against Managing Director and other key officials of Gujarat Land Development Corporation (GLDC). 

Five persons have been booked in the case while a complaint has been registered against two officials. 

Assets worth about Rs 60 lakh have been recovered. "We will not spare anyone, however notorious they may be. More such raids will continue," said Jadeja.

Giving details of the increased preparedness to unearth cases of corruption, he said that chief minister Vijay Rupani had chaired two meetings on March 19 and April 4. "The focus is on strengthening prosecution, investigation, increasing sta-ff and modernising infrastructure," he said.

The government has prepared a five-year vision document to make ACB more result oriented.

It has entered into agreement with International Anti Corruption Academy – Austria, CBI Academy, Gujarat National Law University, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University for training, as well as with Gujarat Judicial Academy and Gujarat State Legal Services Authority.

In order to strengthen the structure of ACB, the government will appoint two Public Prosecutors per Sessions Court where anti-corruption cases are admitted. Legal support staff per court will also be deputed to assist Public Prosecutor and the Investigation Officer.

To ensure that nods for prosecution are expedited, Additional Chief Secretaries (ACS) of Home department and General Administration Department (GAD), as well as the director of ACB, will be held every month.

A three-member committee headed by the ACS of home department will also be formed to dispose of applications for inquiry against Class 1 officers.

A special unit will be formed to investigate cases of Disproportionate Assets (DA). Vigilance officers have already been appointed in every department to coordinate with ACB.
