Some relief from the heat seems to be in sight as the Met department has predicted rains in certain parts of Gujarat on Friday and Saturday. Amreli district saw rains and strong winds in the evening. The city too saw the mercury climb down a bit due to the changes in weather. By the evening, the heat was replaced by cool winds bringing a much needed relief for citizens.

Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologists with Skymet said that usually the western disturbances affects Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and it induces a cyclonic circulation in Rajasthan. "This time this cyclonic circulation is around South West Rajasthan and so areas of Gujarat adjoining these parts will also see some rain," said Palawat.

He added that the moist wind from the Arabian sea coupled with high temperature also aids in the formation of thunderclouds. "This will however not last long and some parts will see rains for just a day or two," said Palawat.

The Met department has predicted dry weather to continue for the rest of Gujarat for the coming days.

Ahmedabad on Friday recorded an average maximum temperature of 39.9 degree Celsius, which is two degrees below normal. The minimum temperature hovered around 27.1 degree celsius for the city.
