Throwing down the gauntlet to the opposition Congress, national BJP president Amit Shah asked them to first see a photograph of the huge public rally he addressed at Panchkakda-Anaval village near Surat on Friday, and then  daydream of making a comeback in the state.

The power show saw a massive turnout of around one lakh BJP workers in the tribal-dominated South Gujarat village. Shah came down heavily on the Congress and its leaders during his speech at the rally.

Shah confidently proclaimed they would bag over 150 seats in Gujarat. He said, “Congress should see a picture of this rally first and then daydream about coming back to power. They will lose their confidence after looking at this ocean of BJP workers who have poured in for the rally. The dedication and commitment of BJP workers is very high and they are determined to achieve the goal.”

Exhorting the rank and file, he said every BJP worker must remember that remember that making BJP win over more than 150 seats is not the goal for us, but they should aim at uprooting Congress from its bases in the state. “The Congress should introspect what they did for Gujarat during their rule at the centre and in the state. They did nothing for the tribal people in Gujarat except make fake promises,” added Shah.

Shah also said PM Narendra Modi had created an atmosphere of communal harmony ever since he became Gujarat CM. He had announced schemes of Rs57,000 crore for the tribals of Gujarat.

While the Congress regime was accused of Rs12 lakh corruption, the Modi government at the centre did not have a single such blot He also praised CM Vijay Rupani for speedy implementation of 350 new schemes. Later in the afternoon, Shah held a meeting with Rupani and BJP chief Jitu Vaghani at the circuit house.

Cong blames BJP for misusing school buses

State Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi alleged the BJP had misused school buses by deploying them for Shah’s rally. Doshi, through a press release, said a private school was forced to remain closed on Friday despite an exam being scheduled.

He cited a letter issued by the school to parents stating the management was helpless as the buses were deployed for the rally and, hence, they had to declare an off and postpone the examination.
