Apart from discounts and lucky draw, musical and cultural programs to enthrall citizens
The upcoming Amdavad Shopping Festival (ASF) will be a golden opportunity for local shop keepers to strike a renewed chord with customers, leaders in local trading community said in Ahmedabad on the sidelines of the first roadshow for the festival. The roadshow aims to increase awareness among traders about the festival and to ensure participation of maximum shopkeepers in the city.
Businessmen are desperate to bring back customers, as they have been hit by a multitude of factors like overall economic slowdown, demonetization and to a certain extent by Goods and Services Tax (GST). Rising trend of online purchases has been the latest challenge. As a fightback, they are now betting high on ASF being organised during January 17-28 on the sidelines of Vibrant Gujarat Summit, 2019.
Jayendra Tanna, president of Organizing Committee of Vibrant Shopping Festival, said that this is the first of a series of roadshows conducted to enroll traders in the festivals. Soon a mobile app will be launched for the consumers to know about different schemes available in their localities and in segments of their interests. "Traders will take a call on the discounts they will offer. In addition to these, there will be daily and hourly lucky draws to lure customers. There will be one bumper draw as well," said Tanna.
Jigar Soni, vice president of Jewelers Association Ahmedabad, said shops will remain open till 12 o' clock in the night and eateries will remain open round the clock to entertain customers. A food festival will be organized as a part of ASF, during which restaurants and eateries will offer discounts. A makeshift arrangement will be made at Sabarmati Riverfront where stalls of must-eat delicacies of Ahmedabad will be set up.
The 12-day festival will also include stage dramas and musical programmes. Artists like Sachin Jigar, Ankit Trivedi, amonf others will perform. "Stages will be created at 27 locations across the city. It will not be just western Ahmedabad, even parts of the old city will be catered to by the ASF. Gujarat government and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation are extending all the support to ASF," said Soni.
