Quota leader Hardik Patel wrote a letter to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday. He requested the CM to allow him to hold peaceful protest programme of fast against Gujarat government In the letter.
Patel wrote letter following to no permission from authorities to hold a programme scheduled on August 25 in Nikol area of Ahmedabad.
"India got independence with the non-violent agitations only and I have also been seeking the permission from your government for the same programme. I assure your government that no any limits will be crossed and law and order situation in the state would not be put on stake by our volunteers and supporters during, before and after the fast. It would be a peaceful programme and no one can debar us from that as it is our fundamental right," the quota stir leader said.
Hardik also mentioned the direction of the Supreme Court in the case of an indefinite hunger strike by agitators in 2012 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi that holding fast programme was the unique right of citizens of India as per constitution to show grievance against authority. He also wrote in the letter that BJP leaders and all the cadres had held a fast programme for the day on April 12 this year against the opposition, although their party was in power.
"Granting no permission for our programme indicates sheer disappointment of your government. I hope you will understand our philosophy. Otherwise, it would reveal the government's negligence towards people's voice and sentiments. We have been fighting for the right of youth and farmers of Gujarat. We would welcome, if you allow us to hold programme or else we would keep our fight continue within limits of the constitution," Hardik added.
Meanwhile, Hardik has decided to keep one day fast on Sunday against government's approach of no movement for granting permission to him for protest programme of August 25. Hardik has given a call to his community of reenactment of Maha rally of Ahmedabad held on August 25, 2015, that had created a big blow in Gujarat's politics. The reenactment programme will be held in Nikol area this time. The preparations for the programmes also have been made by the volunteers and banners of his indefinite fast programme have been placed at different places in Nikol area of Eastern Ahmedabad.
