Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority proposes Rs 752 cr budget for FY20

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) proposed a budget of Rs 752 crore for the year 2019-20. A large chunk of the money is planned to be used for construction of bridges, roads, housing for poor, and other infrastructure-related works.

AUDA chairman Vijay Nehra said that the budget size for 2019-20 is 56 per cent higher than the current year's budget of Rs 482 crore. The authority has estimated income of Rs 377 crore for the next financial year.

Nehra said that they have allocated Rs 180 crore for bridges, which includes Rs 130 crore for five ongoing projects, and Rs 50 crore for six new bridges.

"The bridges will come up at Bhadaj junction, Zundal junction, Narmada main canal (Bhat), Kathwada, Barejadi, and Geratpur at a cost of Rs 365 crore. We have made provision of Rs 50 crore for these projects for 2019-20," he said.

The authority earmarked Rs 10 crore for a foot overbridge near Metro railway station at Vastral junction. Rs 100 crore would be spent for new roads in areas where draft TP schemes have been approved, and for resurfacing of roads, while Rs 180 crore provision has been made for construction of houses for poor under various government schemes.

AUDA said in a release that provision of Rs 20 crore has been made for water supply projects in Aslali, Bopal, Ghuma and Shela, while Rs 40 crore have been earmarked for drainage and storm water works in Bopal, Ghuma, Godhavi, and other areas. Provision of Rs 7 crore has been made for developing lakes and gardens.

Similarly, provision of Rs 50 crore has been made for auditoriums in Kathwada, Dehgam and Shela, and community halls in Mahemdavad and Kalol.
