The Crime Branch sleuths on Friday arrested two people for allegedly being involved in 64 cases of chain-snatching, registered in the different police stations of the city.

The accused have been identified as Anand aka Ashok Dantani(25), a resident of Krishnanagar and Kailash aka Kalpesh Suthar(20), a resident of Saraspur.

The accused snatched around 64 chains over the past one-and-a-half years. Around 19 gold chains, worth Rs 6.16 lakh, were recovered from the duo.

As per crime branch officials, they have been able to recover valuables from 33 cases while 31 cases valuables are yet to recovered.

The accused used to target women during the night, and used to snatch gold chains from them. Mostly, the accused used to roam around society, vegetable market and temples of the city and used to target women who pass by the road by walking and also two-wheelers.

Crime branch officials suspect that the accused are involved in more crimes and they have more gang members involved in the entire chain-snatching racket. Regarding the matter officials have assigned a team to investigated and to dig out more information about them.
