Ahmedabad, Surat fire departments on feet for Kerala

Eight teams of Gujarat Fire and Emergency service Department of Ahmedabad and Surat have been made to be sent for the immediate rescue operation to flood-hit Kerala.

The situation deteriorated in the southern state over the last three days.

Four teams from Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Service Department and four from Surat Fire and Emergency Service Department have been put on standby from Friday evening, fire officials said.

Each team consists of at least 25 to 30 firemen, four boats, four life jacket, rescue ropes, lights, four life buoy's will be sent to Kerala.

"We have been told to be on standby from Friday evening. We are waiting for orders to come," Rajesh Bhatt, Additional Chief fire officer, said.

Two trains cancelled by Ahmedabad Division running between Gujarat and Kerala.

Due to extreme weather conditions in Kerala, two trains of Ahmedabad Division running between Gujarat and Kerala have been cancelled.

The train Bhavnagar-Kochi Express (19260) which was supposed to depart from Bhavnagar on Sunday at around 7.15am has been cancelled and the train Okha-Ernakulam Express(16337) which was supposed to depart from Okha on Monday has been cancelled.
