If you have perspired and sweltered the worst on Thursday, there is a reason for it. Ahmedabad scorched at 41 degree Celsius, the highest in the season so far. The maximum temperature hovered around 41 degree Celsius, three degrees above the normal mark.

The day's heat was relatively better than 41.5 degree Celsius in March 2015 and 2016 and 42.8 degree Celsius in 2017. The mercury shot up to 43 degrees on March 21, 2010, the hottest day recorded that decade. The highest ever temperature recorded in March was on March 31, 1908, when the mercury touched 43.9 degrees.

The minimum temperature recorded on Thursday was 22.7 degree Celsius, one degree above normal, state web portal of MeT department mentioned.

The weatherman said Friday will have a clear sky with maximum temperature around 40 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature will be around 22 degree Celsius.

Although the mercury touched 41 degree Celsius, I feel like the temperature was more because of the change in wind pattern.

"The wind has been coming from south Pakistan and Sindh province since last few days. They are very dry. Now, the pattern has changed. They are coming from the Arabian Sea."

"They are humid," said Mahesh Palavat, chief meteorologist at Skymet.

"Due to humidity, I feel that the temperature is more," added Palavat.

People were feeling discomfort on Thursday as heat and humidity were on the upper side.

People may get a heat stroke. During the sizzling day, people should avoid going out. If needed, one must cover oneself properly and have enough liquid intake," said Dr Bhavin Solanki.
