Following complaints from parents of Shanti Asiatic School not initiating refund for excess fees collected, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) has demanded urgent action from the education deparment.

In a letter addressed to Vinod Rao, principal secretary, Primary and Secondary education, the NSUI has demanded immediate initiation of refund amount and cancel the permission of the school for violating order of the District Education Officer (DEO).

Sudhir Rawal, spokesperson, NSUI said, "Shanti Asiatic School has been charging Rs 1,25,000 as fees from students. In the past, after we made representations, the DEO instructed the school to charge Rs 49,000 only. While the school continues to charge excess fees, they have not yet refunded amount to the students. They owe us money and its been months now."

The NSUI members submitted the letter to Rao's office on Monday. "We have demanded immediate refund of the fees taken by the school and have demanded cancellation of the schools permission." When DNA got in touch with Vinod Rao, he said, "If any school is acting beyond the purview of FRC, then state government and FRC will intervene."

A parent residing in South Bopal requesting anonymity said, "Both my children study in the school. We had thought that after the FRC order, we will get some respite, but the school is yet to give us a refund. If the schools permission is being cancelled, future of students will be at risk."
