The Ahmedabad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has installed 64 high-resolution CCTV cameras inside the building to keep a close eye on employees, fake agents and applicants. The cameras have been installed in different departments of the RTO including License Single Window room, online test room, test drive track, registration department, lobby, etc. The cameras cover each and every area of the RTO.

An RTO officer said the cameras were installed to keep an eye on the employee after several cases of bribery were reported. The CCTV cameras will not only create a fear among employees and act as a deterrent against taking bribes, the footage can also be used in such cases. Apart from that, there are several fake agents who roam around the office, and, with the help of the camras, they can be tracked. This is also expected to help with applicants who create a ruckus.

"We have initiated the project one week ago and all the CCTV cameras have already been installed in the office," said Regional Transport Officer SA Mojanidar. "There are some technical issues which we need to sort out. It will be done in another seven days, after which the cameras will be used. There are around 64 cameras installed till now, but in future more will be installed as per need."

The administration intends to install more than 50 CCTV cameras in the Vastral RTO.
