Ahmedabad: Rs 173 cr draft budget tabled for VS Hospital

The sister organisations of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) – MJ Library and VS Hospital introduced their draft budget for the next fiscal which are Rs 11.80 crore and Rs 172.70 crore, respectively.

Librarian Bipin Modi presented the draft budget for the MJ Library with an increase of Rs 86.45 lakh over the previous year's budget. The librarian has introduced a smart feature in the library. "We have decided to develop the MJ Library as Smart Library under the Smart City Project. As a part of that, we are going to invest in kiosks, Wi-Fi facility, Kindle instruments and E-books and availing mobile application to the users/readers."

"There will be a computer laboratory for those who are preparing for the civil services and other competitive exams. A new feature of payment to be added – E-payment," added Modi.

For the VS Hospital, the superintendent ST Malhan proposed a draft budget of Rs 172.70 crore, of which, a major part would be utilised in the establishment expenditure which is Rs 138.2 crore.

The draft budget has provisions for renovation and repair of existing buildings while repair of lifts and floor retrofitting would be done in the old hospital building.
