Newly appointed director of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), professor Ashish Nanda, took charge on Monday.
Amidst the much excitement and expectations, Nanda kept himself busy in a series of meetings at the institute even as congratulatory messages continued to pour in.
Immediately after taking charge, he called a meeting of the faculty council to exchange details of the institutes and the challenges ahead.
The first step the director took was to initiate the process of filling up the vacant posts of deans at the institute. Currently, there are two vacant positions dean of institute, second highest post after director, and dean of alumni and external relations.
Meanwhile, dean of faculties post is held by Ajay Pandey.
However, it is not yet clear whether he would continue.
“Faculties are requested to suggest the names of suitable candidates for the posts by September 13. The director will later select and appoint dean from the suggestions. This has been the process of appointing deans at IIMA,” said a senior faculty.
