The draft budget was first proposed by Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar on January 19, then revised by Standing Committee Chairman Pravin Patel on February 2.
According to the proposal, the civic body will also implement an on-street parking policy on the lines of the system in place in Pune and Kolkata to better manage city traffic. Besides, they will construct 26 railway overbridges/underbridges to make the city free of railway crossings.
Mayor Gautam Shah said that along with many events and festivals that are on the cards this year, AMC will organise Swachhta Rounds at different wards to create awareness about the cleanliness campaign started and promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
To boost the campaign, the civic body has increased the councilors’ budget to Rs 25 lakh this year, of which Rs 3 lakh has to be spent on cleanliness-related activities.
The civic body will also invest 46% of its annual budget for 2018-19 on infrastructure projects such as roads, water, drainage, and lights.
