After marginal rise, the pass percentage of Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) result stands at 83.08%.

With 90.55% of girls clearing the exam, they have outperformed the boys in Ajmer region, including Ahmedabad. Interestingly, Sonam Chhomo, a student of Delhi Public School, Bopal, topped the city with 97.8 % in Humanities and Priya Singh, of the same school, scored 97% in Science.

The exams started on March 5.

A total of 11,86,306 students had registered for the CBSE Class 12 examination that was held across 4,138 centres in India and 71 centres outside the country.

This year, the examination was marred with controversy over paper leak issue. The board had conducted a retest of Class 12 economics paper on April 25, nearly a month after it was leaked, triggering widespread outrage.

In Ajmer region, the pass percentage was recorded at 86.76%.

In the category of students with disabilities, nearly 10,000 students scored above 90%.

Ajmer region also witnessed a massive drop in the number of students taking unfair means during the exam. Only 8 cases were registered in the region, as against 54 last year.

Surender Sachdeva, the Chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education Sahodaya Schools Complex of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and the Principal of DPS, Bopal, said, "The overall result of city is good. The percentile marks in all subjects are consistent like last year. Their parents deserve appreciation for being a good support and able to provide comfort. At DPS, we have scored 6 positions out of 10 from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar."

Despite the percentile improving, a number of schools saw a marginal dip in percentage as against last year. Experts cited stricter moderation policy adopted by the board this year.

Radhika Iyer, Director, Udgam School for Children said, "Schools which have probably witnessed marginal drop could be as the board this time involved lot of people for paper checking and became more stringent."

A principal requesting anonymity said, "Many schools have seen a dip of 2-5% in pass percentage, but because their percentile has increased, the dip does not affect. The dip is due to the moderation policy."
