Rain accompanied by storm late on Tuesday evening seems to be an indicator that regular monsoon is set to hit the city in a day or two.

The latest announcement by the India Meteorology Department in Ahmedabad has predicted that monsoon will hit the state by Friday. While some parts of Gujarat have started receiving rain, the Met department has forecast that advancing monsoon will lash south and north Gujarat in the coming three days.

IMD director Jayanta Sarkar said that Kutch might have to wait longer for rains. “But other parts of Gujarat will start receiving rain in two to three days,” he said. Meanwhile, immediate forecast for state suggests light to moderate rain or thundershower at isolated places in all districts of Gujarat, Diu, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

For Ahmedabad, the department has forecast rain or thundershower towards evening or night on Wednesday.

The clouds may have brought partial relief from harsh sun but residents are sweating it out due to the resultant humidity. While some are complaining about the humidity, others are missing monsoon delicacies.

“Ideally, this is the time to dig into dal-wada and hot pav-bhaji. I hope this is the actual monsoon,” said Asma S, a professional.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Ahmedabad registered maximum temperature of 38.3 degree Celsius, 3 degrees higher than the previous day. The minimum temperature registered was 29 degree Celsius, which was again 3 degrees higher than the previous day.
