Ahmedabad: Fee Regulatory Committee slashes fee of Delhi Public School, Koba by 50%

The FRC has passed an order for 11 of the 88 schools from Ahmedabad zone that had submitted proposals after the last the Supreme court order.

The Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) has once again come as a breather for many parents as it slashed the fees of the top schools in the city.

The FRC has passed an order for 11 of the 88 schools from Ahmedabad zone that had submitted proposals after the last the Supreme court order. The proposed fees of Delhi Public School, Koba, in Gandhinagar, and Divine Child International school has been slashed by 50%.

DPS Gandhinagar which had proposed to charge Rs 1,10,000 for pre-primary, Rs 1,15,000 for primary, Rs 1,25,000 for upper primary for the year 2017-18 can now charge Rs 60,000 and Rs 65,000 respectively.

For secondary, instead of proposed Rs 1,30,000 they can now charge Rs 65,000 whereas for higher secondary, as against Rs 1,40,000 proposed, they can charge Rs 80,000. Similarly, for DCIS, the FRC has slashed its proposed fee of Rs 1,55,500 to Rs 80,000.

"The Supreme Court in its previous order had directed all schools which had not submitted their proposals to submit their proposals. A total of 88 schools from Ahmedabad zone had submitted out of which, FRC has passed an order for 11 schools till now," Navneet Mehta, District Education Officer (DEO), Ahmedabad city said.

As per the Gujarat Self-Financed Schools (Regulation of Fees), Act, the lower cut-off set by the state government is at Rs 15,000 for primary, Rs 25,000 for secondary and Rs 30,000 for higher secondary schools. Schools that propose to charge beyond the cut-off were asked to approach the FRC justifying their fees.
