Exactly 10 days after the first trial run of the Ahmedabad Metro was held at the Apparel Park track in Maninagar, the Metro is in news again but for wrong reason. Two copper plates used for the ongoing work near Amaraiwadi area, have gone missing.

As per police, the incident took place between January 31 and February 1 at the Metro bridge passing near the Amraiwadi Metro station to Rabari Colony area. A complaint was lodged with the Amraiwadi police station by Rajeshkumar Prasad, Metro's site manager.

As per Prasad's complaint on February 4, Dharmendra Rajput, sector supervisor of Amraiwadi Metro site informed him that the two copper plates installed near the Amraiwadi Metro bridge are stolen. It was revealed that the copper plates were stolen from two different pillars number 59 and 62 of the bridge. As per officials each pillar weight around 15kg and cost Rs6,000. A total of around Rs12,000 worth of valuables got stolen from the metro site.

The copper plates were installed near the Metro line to provide power supply. The incident came to light when the officials noticed an error in electrical supply and informed the seniors regarding the same.
