State government, candidates heave sigh of relief after hassle-free exam

Around 8.76 lakh candidates appeared in the Lok Rakshak Dal (LRD) recruitment exam on Sunday. There are 9,713 vacant posts in the department. A majority of the aspirants said the paper was lengthy, but easy. Also, significant weightage was given to Mathematics-based logical reasoning questions.

The 100-mark paper comprised 100 objective questions, of which over 30 questions were from mathematical reasoning section, a candidate said. The students had to apply theories to find solutions that took a lot of time, the candidate further stated.

The exam, that was scheduled for December 2, was cancelled after the paper got leaked the same day.

The government had then announced to conduct the exam on January 6. Sunil Karova, a candidate who came for test at center raised at RH Kapadia School in Ahmedabad, said: "The question paper was not tough, but lengthy. A number of questions came from the reasoning part. General studies, constitution and IPC-CrPC-related questions were also asked. I was very sad when I came to know that the paper was leaked. I had the same fear even today. I appeared under sheer pressure and the psychological impact worked adversely."

"The paper leak incident made me feel miserable. I could not give my best during the final days. The paper was easy, but the mental trauma was painful. I am keeping my fingers crossed so that no disaster happens till the results are out," said another candidate from Mehsana, Pinky Patel, said.

Sufficient precaution

The Lok Rakshak Dal Bharti Board (recruitment board) took extra precaution after the role of the printing firm came under scanner of the investigative agency.

The papers were printed at government printing press this time. The papers reached the centres just one-and-a-half hour before the examination.

The one-hour examination started at 11 o'clcok. The students were allowed to enter the centre from 8:30am. They were allowed to enter the hall till 10:30. The vigilance staff also verified the hall tickets and matched fingerprints of the candidates.

Free ST service for outstation students

Above 4000 buses were deployed for the transportation of candidates from outstations who were to appear for the recruitment tests at district headquarters. The government had arranged free transportation for these candidates. The staff of State Transport (ST) department had welcomed these candidates and complimented them with the roses.
