ABVP, NSUI clash outside Gujarat Law Society University

A complaint was lodged with the Navrangpura police station on Thursday against 20 members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students' Union of India (NSUI), for beating up a car driver and vandalising a cafe in the Navran-gpura area.

Police said the incident took place outside the back gate of Gujarat Law Society (GLS) University. A verbal dispute broke out between members of ABVP and NSUI, which turned ugly and led to the members beating each other up. In the ensuing violence, a car was damaged by the group, and when the car's driver, identified as Charan Singh, intervened, the group beat him up as well.

Later, the group barged into a Cafe Coffee Day outlet near GSL College and started vandalising it. The police were informed by the café's owner, but by the time the cops reached the spot, the accused had broken the windows and furniture of the cafe and fled the spot.

A complaint was lodged with the Navrangpura police by the driver against 20 people and further investigation into the matter is on.

Incharge Inspector HB Patel of Navrangpura said, "We have lodged a complaint against 20 people in the matter and further investigation is on. Right now, we have recovered CCTV footage from the cafe, through which, some of the accused involved in the clash have been identified."
