60-nation delegation to visit Gujarat today

The visit includes places like Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, and Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

As many as 138 political leaders from 60 nations, including deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan, Sukhrob Kholmuradov will visit Gujarat on Sunday. The delegation will observe the works done under the Mahatma Gandhi Swachhata Abhiyan in Gujarat, and will visit the places that the father of the nation left his marks on, in Gujarat

The visit includes places like Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, and Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. 

The rural development commissioner of state, Mona Khandhar addressed a press conference on Saturday on the same.

"Their tour to different places shall start early morning on Sunday and they will visit Punsari village of Sabarkantha district. They will take a look at sanitation facilities including community toilets, mobile toilets, primary health centre, schools run under the Gyankunj Project, implementation of housing scheme PM Awas Yojana and other facilities like CCTV, RO water plant, local transportation, digital library, and others," Khandhar said.

"The delegation includes ministers from 46 nations that include Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Cambodia, Bolivia, Chad, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Ghana, Singapore and more. They have come to India to participate in the Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention held in New Delhi during September 20 to October 2 and they will come to Gujarat for site visit," she added.

The media from these nations will also come along with their leaders to observe the development in Gujarat, and India, in the field of sanitation, the commissioner said.

The delegation will visit the Dandi Kutir at Mahatma Mandir, which depicts the story of Mahatma Gandhi through the Gandhi to Mahatma exhibition. Here, the governor, OP Kohli will host them at the lunch-cum-reception ceremony. They will head to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and will leave for New Delhi late in the evening.
