29 Gujarat Congress MLAs suspended for ruckus over farmers' issues

The speaker of Gujarat assembly Rajendra Trivedi suspended 29 members of Opposition who rushed into well in the house on Tuesday. The opposition MLAs were protesting against Gujarat government over the issue of farmers.

The speaker had suspended them for the whole day but the suspension was revoked later on when both the parties requested and assured him.

In fact, Congress MLA Savar Kundla Virju Thumar and other opposition members had made fiery arguments during a debate over the cut motions in budget demands for agriculture department in the first sitting of the day.

When the agriculture minister RC Faldu rose for his reply, he named Thumar that provoked the MLA.

Thumar also began speaking loudly in the house to counter the minister and speaker prevented him doing so. When the MLA did not listen to speaker's order, Trivedi suspended him for the day.

Rest of the MLAs also came into a defence of Thumar and shouted slogans against BJP ruled state government in-house. They also rushed into well near speaker's chair and speaker gave the ruling of suspension of all 29 members who created a ruckus in-house.

The sergeant took them out by pulling them. The agriculture minister Faldu then finished his speech and daybreak was announced.
