21-year-old girl 'abducts' teenage boy

Usually, when a couple elopes, it is the boy who is on the receiving end, with a  kidnapping case lodged against him. However, in a bizarre turn of events, the family of a 15-year-old boy has lodged a complaint against a 21-year-old girl for kidnapping their son. Police believe that the two might have fallen in love and eloped to escape opposition.

Vaishnavi Amin, a resident of Anandnagar Flats in Satellite, had befriended Ramesh (name changed) some time ago. According to the police, the friendship later developed into love.

On Thursday, Vaishnavi visited Ramesh at his place. But she was unable to go back home as it had started raining heavily. Ramesh sought his parents’ permission to let Vaishnavi stay at their house. Ramesh’s parents talked to Vaishnavi’s parents and allowed her to stay back. While the girl shared a room with Ramesh’s mother, the teen slept in his brother’s room.

On Friday morning, Ramesh left the house with Vaishnavi on the pretext of dropping her home. However, when the two failed to return till late in the evening, the parents began a frantic search.

Failing to locate the two, the boy’s family registered a case of kidnapping against Vaishnavi. Sub-inspector of Sola police station, BD Dabhi, said that they were looking into the matter to find out where the two might have gone.
